Change the permissions of the shared folder
- Navigate to the shared folder in the File Explorer > right-click it > Properties
- Navigate to the Security tab > the Owner tab > click the Edit button
- Click the Add button
- Enter your username/email address > click OK

- Open Windows Explorer.
- Right-click the shared folder you want to edit.
- Choose Properties from the menu.
- Go to the Security tab and select the Edit option.
- Toggle the permissions on or off.

Disable or enable inheritance
- To disable inheritance, click Advanced on the Security tab of the File Explorer Properties dialog box. However, you cannot disable inheritance on a folder that contains subfolders.
- To disable inheritance for a subfolder, you must disable inheritance on its parent folder.
- In the Advanced Security Settings dialog box, click to clear the Enable inheritance check box.
- Click OK to close the Advanced Security Settings dialog box.
Change the permissions of the user account
- First, right-click the user account in Windows 7 and select Properties.
- Next, click on the Sharing tab on the Properties window.
- Then click the Advanced Sharing option.
- Select the Sharing tab on the Advanced Sharing window.
- Then press the Change button for the Everyone group.
- Then press the Add button.
- Enter the first character for the share name.
- Then begin typing the user’s user name.
- Select the user account from the matching results.
- Click the Check Names button to confirm the user.
- Select the Share button.
- Select the Read permission for the Everyone group.
- Select the Write permission for the Everyone group.
- Select the Read/Write permission to the Everyone group.
- Select the Full control for the Everyone group.
- Then press the OK button.
Modify the permissions of the computer account
- Log into the computer using a user account with administrative privileges.
- Click Start, type “netplwiz”, and press Enter.
- In the User Accounts window, click on “Manage another account”.
- Click on “Add”, and click “Local account”.
- Type in the name of the user account, and click “Finish”.
- Navigate to Computer Management; under Shared Folders, right click the share you want to access and click Properties.
- Under “Security”, click Edit.
- Click “Add” and type in the name of the user account that you want to add.
