Check if svchost.exe is a virus
- Launch Windows Security by clicking on its Start menu icon.
- Click Virus & threat protection from the left pane and select Scan now from the Virus & threat protection menu.
- Click on OK to run the scan.
Run an antivirus scan
- Press Windows + S to launch the Search menu, enter antivirus in the search box, and click on the relevant search result.
- Select Windows Security in the menu that opens, and click on the Virus & threat protection option.
- Select Scan options on the left of the window, and click on the Full Scan option.
- In the scan window, select Options, and enable the Remove viruses option.
- Click the Scan now button to start scanning.

Run the System File Checker
- First, open the Run accessory as detailed for the troubleshooter above.
- Input this command in the Open box: sfc/scannow
- Press the OK button.
- System File Checker will now scan Windows for corrupted system files.
- Restart Windows after the scan if it finds any corrupted files.
Run a SFC scan
- Press the Windows key + S, type cmd, and click on the Run as administrator option under Command prompt.
- Now, input sfc/scannow in the prompt’s window.
- Then press the Return key, and the DISM tool will scan for system files.
- Press the Windows key + S, type cmd, and click on the Run as administrator option under Command prompt.
- Enter the following command: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for the scan to complete, and restart the device.
- Reset your keyboard
Run DISM

Press Windows Key + X and choose Command prompt (Admin) or PowerShell (Admin) from the menu.
When Command prompt starts, run the following command (you might need to enter your password): DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth - Once the process is finished, run the following command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /CheckHealth
Disable UAC
- Press Windows + R to open Run, type †̃services.msc’, and click OK.
- Locate †̃Windows Audio’ on the list and open its Properties.
- Go to the General tab, select the Stop button, and click the Apply and OK buttons.
- In the search bar, type in †̃UAC’, click on its result, and open the UAC Properties window.
- Select the Never notify option, click OK, and reboot your PC.
