Run the Disk Utility
- First, open the Apple menu from the menu bar on your Mac.
- Select System Preferences.
- Click Security and Privacy.
- Select the General tab.
- Click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the window and enter your admin password.
- Once the window opens check the box next to Allow applications downloaded from: and click +.
- Add /Applications/Utilities.
- Select Open.
- Click the lock icon again and enter your admin password.
- Expand the Utilities folder, select Disk Utility, and click Open.
- Select the Macintosh HD volume in the sidebar and click the First Aid tab.
- Select the Repair Disk Permissions option.
Restart your Mac
- Restart your Mac, and then try to open the disk utility again.
