The THMC file, short for THX Music Content File, is a file format used for digital music.
THX Music Content files contain audio files, metadata, and information pertaining to the particular music file.
THX Music Content files are encoded with a digital rights management (DRM) system, in order to prevent unauthorized sharing or copying of digital music.
The DRM system also requires specific hardware in order to play a THX Music Content file, such as a proprietary audio player.
The DRM system also ensures that only authorized devices can play particular songs, even older songs, and songs from different albums.
Subsequently, the DRM system also prevents users from copying individual songs, or whole albums.
