1. Clean boot your system
- In the Windows search box, type msconfig and open it.

3. Run System File Checker
- Go to Start > type cmd > right-click Command prompt and select Run as administrator
- Now, type the following command: sfc /scannow
- Wait for the scanning process to finish.
4. Check the location of the Winload.exe
- 5. Locate the Winload.exe file on the C: drive.
- 6. Right-click on the Winload.exe file and select Properties.
7. Under the Properties window, click on the Compatibility tab.
8. Choose the Compatibility mode from the drop-down menu. - 9. Click on the Apply button and close the window.

5. Run DISM

- Check System Image Recovery, and select Next.
- Choose an install.wim file, and click Scan for solutions.
6. Run System File Checker
- Press Windows key + X to open Win + X menu. Choose Shut down or restart.
- Choose Restart.
- While your PC reboots, press F4 to open the Boot menu.
- Select Safe Mode with Networking.
7. Run a SFC

Press Windows Key + X and select Command prompt (Admin) from the list.
Type the following command, and press Enter: sfc /scannow - Wait for the process to finish, and check if Error 646 is resolved.
9. Install the latest updates
- First, open Windows Update in Windows 10. To do that, press the Windows key + I hotkey.
- Then click the Check for updates button in Windows Update.
10. Reinstall Windows 10
- Press Windows Key + I to open Settings.
- Choose Update & Security.
- Select Windows Update from the left pane.
- Now click Check for updates.
11. Restore Windows 10 from system image

Press Windows Key + S and enter system restore. Choose Create a restore point from the list.
When System Properties window opens, click the System Protection tab. Now click System Restore button.
When System Restore window opens, check Show more restore points option. Now click Next.
When Choose a restore point window opens, choose the desired restore point. Now click Next.
When Confirm your restore point window opens, click Yes.
Clean boot your system
- Press the Windows key + R hotkeys to launch the Run window.
- Type msconfig in the Run window’s text field, and press the Enter key.
- Click the Services tab.
- Select the Hide all Microsoft services box.
- Uncheck the Hide all Microsoft services box.
- Click the Startup tab.
- Uncheck the Load startup items option.
- Click the Apply and OK buttons.
Run the System File Checker
- Press Windows Key + S, type cmd, and open Run as administrator under Command prompt.
- Enter the following command and press Enter: sfc/scannow
- Wait for the process to complete and reboot your computer when prompted.
Update Windows 10
- Open Settings by pressing Windows + I and selecting the relevant option.
- Choose Update & Security.
- Click Check for Updates.
- Once done, restart your PC.
Install the latest updates
- Go to the Settings app and scroll down to Update & Security section.
- Select Windows Update from the left pane. Next, click on Check for updates button.
Reinstall Windows 10
- Press Windows Key + I to open Settings.
- Select Apps from the list.
- Select Apps & features.
- Locate the problematic app and click Uninstall.
- Now, click the Uninstall button again to confirm the action.
- Retry the upgrade process.
