Disable Secure Boot
- Press Windows key + S, type secure boot, and select Manage from the results.
- Enable the option that says Turn on fast startup (recommended).
- Restart your PC.
- Launch Command prompt as administrator.
- Run the following commands:
bcdedit /set {default} bootdefault – Boot to the default configuration
bcdedit /set {default} osdeviceinstallorder – Override the “Default Install Priority”
bcdedit /set {default} osdeviceinstallorder 1 – Move Windows to the top of the boot list
bcdedit /set {default} bootorder 1 – Set Boot Priority to 1 - Close Command prompt and restart your PC.
Open the BIOS setup
- Press F2, F10 or Delete while the computer is booting up
- Go to the system information section
- Locate the Restore computer to factory settings section
- Hit Enter

Run the System Restore Troubleshooter
- Press the Windows key + R, type †̃troubleshoot’, and hit Enter.
- Select Dell Factory System Restore from the list of troubleshooters.
- Click Run the Troubleshooter button.
- Click Scan for affected programs.
- Select the programs you want to repair and click the Next button.
- Select the Restore my computer to an earlier time option.
- Click Next to proceed.
Run the System Restore troubleshooter
- To open the troubleshooter, press the Type here to search button in Windows 10’s taskbar.
- Enter troubleshoot in the search box, and click on the relevant search result.
- Now, click on View all troubleshooters to open the window shown directly below.
- Select the Dell Factory System Restore option, and click on the Run the troubleshooter button.
Perform an Offline System Restore
- Open File Explorer by pressing Windows + E keys.
- Go to This PC and double-click on your hard drive.
- Navigate to the System Restore folder (typically located in C:System Restore).
- Right-click on the System Restore folder and select Restore system settings from the menu.
- Wait for the process to finish.
Reset your PC
- Press the Power button once.
- Keep pressing it until you see the Power options menu.
- Select Restart from the options.
- Once you’re done, remove the power cable and connect it again.
- Your PC will now restart a few times and after you do, it’ll automatically boot into Recovery.
- After it boots, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options.
- Choose Startup Settings > Restart.
- Now, your PC will boot into Safe Mode.
